Companies in Germany are already working intensively on sustainable business models, so that they can create value and stay competitive also in the long term. As part of this, sustainable finance creates new opportunities, because investors and lenders receive stronger incentives to support this transformation. In this context, what is particularly important for me is the further integration and forward-looking orientation in reporting and risk management, which directly connect the non-financial issues to the long-term financial development of the company. This creates clarity regarding the impact on – and by –the company. There are still key questions that need to be clarified to ensure that the implementation is feasible, for example the materiality and risk concepts, or whether the standardisation of scenarios delivers added value for the transformation of companies. This requires a continuation of the multi-stakeholder approach which has characterised the SFC.
