Sustainability in finance must become practical! The SFC’s recommendations are setting the right course. Transparency is a central issue. After all, customers should know, and want to know, how sustainable financial products actually are. The recommendation to establish a product classification system addresses this issue. A sustainability classification system not only creates transparency regarding sustainability opportunities and risks, it also shows how financial products are contributing to the transformation, which will lead to customers providing more capital for the goals of creating more sustainability. This mobilisation of capital is necessary for the transformation. The aim is to support the transformation with policy frameworks, for which the SFC has delivered practical measures.
